HHR SS and CSRT
one thing i overlooked until recently being able to sit in both of them again was actual driving comfort. unfortunately for me and the ss, it was more difficult to get comfortable in the ss, i usually like to drive with my left elbow on the door by the bottom of the window, in the hhr, it is a very uncomfortable position and on top of that the door lock is right were it would be most comfortable to rest the elbow. secondly, my right knee rests against the center console, which wasnt bad at first, but became uncomfortable when constantly moving from shifting.
the csrt had the opposite experience. it was more comfortable to sit in a normal driving position for me in it.
this doesnt count out the ss, but it is something i have to think about
one more thing i didnt like was that the hhr has the same pathetic cup holders as my cobalt, those things are useless

1. Yes i am interested in handling. after driving both cars, they both handle pretty well. would probably do a little bit of suspension work on either one.
2. Yes i do. nothing too crazy though, probably just either staged kit, suspension work, intake/exhuast, cosmetic stuff

Ss
1) The HHRSS with the new GM upgrade tune puts the HHR head to head with the SRT-4 in a speed race.
2) The HHR Suspension is in a different league
altogether : read the reviews by Motor trend etc...
3) The interior of the SS has a better finish and for the interior volume alone , and back hatch opening size, this should be an easy one.
4) However, Chrysler is hurting wayy more than chevy for sales , so the SRT could come in a few thou less.
5) I could care less. but, short story. I was in love with my neon SRT-4. Soooo fast. I roll around in that burning lights up by the doz. My co worker bought a 4 door SVT focus and my friend picked up a used Nissan Murano. We all traded for a few days.
All of a sudden i felt like a foolish 16 year old who couldn't see thru the silk. After driving my SRT-4 , again fasst as hell, i got soo sick of it. Get where im goin...
If your not 16 years old and plan on having this car for the next 4-5 years. Do the right thing and get the SS. Classier, a better crossover, and what car set a LAP RECORD
around the NURBURGRING for its car class.......NOT the Caliber.

to be fair, the caliber has never been to the ring, and all the reviews i have read state the caliber is quicker than the ss, so it is plausible that the srt might be quicker around the ring. but that is neither here or there.
i think they are both great cars. whatever car i get, it will be a used one. so it will probably just come down to which one is the better deal at the time i am ready to purchase

Mine, like a lot of others were good reliability, looks good, hauls a lot of stuff, go when you need it to go (straight or through turns) and sip the gas when you don't. (Not necessarily in that order
Caliber is quicker than a stock HHR straight line, no denying that. I would suggest looking at the 'rings layout - not a whole lot of straight lines so it needs to handle. Unfortunately I haven't seen a favorable review in it's cornering prowess. I have seen posts on here from someone that does some Solorun's. They may have some insight - if - they have seen a caliber at one.

No amount of forum and web research can substitute real world driving. Test drive as many times as you can, even if you have to visit 4 different GM and 4 different Dodge dealerships and then double back for 2nd test drives. Also , feel up the interiors as if they were your junior school girlfriends. Build quality and space are just as important as speed.
We have made our choice and gave you our opinion. IF we did not like the vehicle we would not be here and would would be on the CSRT site.
I think between the the press stories that all say the CSRT may be faster the SS is better sorted it the big differance.
It just comes down to what you want. We can't pick it for you. What one you think you can live with the best is all that matters. Your paying for it not us.
What is important is the question you need to ask to yourself. Which one would you be happiest with for the next 5 years? All here represent what we have decided for our selves.
