interesting read. one common issue csrt owners have had with their cars is dealers leaving the strut spacers on the car that are placed there during shipping. they report that it makes the car handle horribly and bounce all over the place, sounds a lot like what that guy was complaining about

So I'm reading over at different sites about this CSRT 4 and realize that most of them trap 100 mph in the 1/4 mile. for being 25 hp more than mine I would expect more than .5 MPH than mine did stock. I want to see one againt a Stage 1 HHR SS.

Peak HP doesn't always tell the whole story. I only went to the track once and pulled a 14.99 at a shade under 100. My 60 ft times were awful. I have a friend with a supercharged Cobalt with less power, who's a half a second faster at the same trap. The positive displacement blower has more area under the curve in the lower RPM range, so his 60's were better than mine. Of course, having more experience launching a bloody FWD doesn't hurt, but I have the advantage of the automated launch/no lift gizmo. Any given Sunday....

an interesting note: when i was reading ss reviews the other day (wish i could remember which exact review) the reviewer said that he loved the no lift/launch feature, but when he turned it off he was able to shave almost a half second off of his 1/4mile time

remember the cobalt is also a few hundred pounds lighter then the hhr, thats why the lnf cobalts run 14.0-14.1 and the hhrss runs 14.7 .

Rockstr, Sounds like you really should be ridin' in a Dodge. And hittin' up the Dodge forums. They are faster and better lookin' than anything in the whole wide world. This discussion to be continued at MYDODGETHEBEST.COM.

Hey Mods, time to can it and put a lock on it.

289 Lb or roughly 3/10ths penalty HHR SS vs. Cobalt SS/SC.

uhh.....did someone pour spoiled milk in your cereal?

i have been as non-fanboish as possible. the only reason the original review of the csrt is soo much longer than the hhr is because i was dead tired when i wrote the hhr one. both cars have big pluses and big minuses, i just havent decided which one will win out. who knows it may not be either of these cars by the time i am ready to buy.

most people have on here have been able to talk with a mature attitude about the cars with out nut-huggin either one, and it seems like your feelings got hurt that someone was saying something bad about the hhr? hope i am wrong.

this is all relative to the driver's skill. for someone like me, who is just now experiencing FWD and manuals, i will most likely turn out much better launches by using launch control. i am used to my V8 RWD automatic Camaro and truck (not that i race my truck, just saying...), so i'm not very good at launching such a spin-happy car, so this feature, as of now, will allow me to do better. as i get more used to FWD and manual cars, i will eventually be able to do better than the launch control. on the other hand, no matter how you slice it, no-lift shift is awesome; factory enabled power-shifting.

yea, it does take a while to get used to a high hp fwd car. i can remember when i first got my neon srt back in the day ( i had an underpowered pt cruiser before that) i couldnt get within .5 seconds in the 1/4 for the longest time, wasnt used to actually having power
