thats a great Idea, if you had the cash just get the rear doors off a Panel, then put them on the SS, with the rear window delete option, would cost alot but it would be the frist panel SS.

Not so. If it's a crate engine from GM and you have a certified GM mechanic installing it. That's the exact words from our Chevrolet Service Director. He actually approached me and told me to throw in the supercharged engine. You'll also need the beefier transmission or you will void your transmission warranty.

You don't see panels on the street.....I'm thinking that finding them salvage would be nearly impossible.

Actually, the SSR was capable of towing. I think it was the Typhoon/Cyclone that couldn't haul, except for hauling ass.

Custom orders are not exactly that. It's called a build to order. The vehicle must be built along certain guide lines. Just because it fits doesn't mean it's going to happen.

I agree it would more then likely be hard to find a salvage. You would have to be able to get the doors through the parts department if you wrecked your panel. So that's a good option if I can't build it to order that way, and I can resale the stock doors back to Chevy. Or just hang onto them for a different look now and then.
