That crate motor will have it's own warranty. It will not be the factory powertrain warranty. Two totally different animals.

Just buy a 2.4 2Lt panel and add the SS parts you want. Check the specs. Bumpers, sway bars & grill bolt on, seats are mostlikely a bolt in and badges stick on. Ok, so the HP is the hard part......

Try the parts...
I'm sure they're pretty much interchangeable...

I think the Panel in an SS version is a good idea.

Well I can't see the logic in buying a regular panel & then spending a gazillion dollars in SS parts. So back to the original plan.....2008 red panel with the options I want. This is going to be a work vehicle anyways. If I want to go fast I will pull the 79 TBird out of the garage. I'ts got 460 cubic inches & passes everything but a gas station

They'll build one, probably an '09! Problem is, like every other SS since '96, that stands for Sticker Shock, not Super Sport!

I was interested in the new panel until I saw it at the 2007 NAIAS in Detroit. The lack of folding rear seats was a deal closer for me.
I understand there are no windows back there, but a two seater isn't practical at all for me right now.

Put two fold down rear seats in the Panel and I might be all over it.

I guess you haven't heard that Chevy is revamping their SS lineup, they have been all this year

Personally the base Trailblazer SS has been one of the best values out of GM in many years at only $32K

I don't think DOT will allow seats in the rear with no windows or exterior door handles (safety).
