I know the performance seats didn't come with an armrest and it doesn't have a center console, are there any fixes to this or should I just get used to it.

 

Armrests were not included in the 5 speeds because it would "hamper with the gear shifter"(safety). They are installed on the automatic transmission models. This is what I had been told. I like the comfort also, so... I bought the auto trans. because of this. Hope this helps...maybe there will be an aftermarket fix some day.

 

Yeah, the lack of armrest in even a fast grocery getter like th HHR SS is silly. It may be 'Sport" but it is aimed at folks who drive them daily, so it should have a few of the comforts we require, like armrests. Guess that's another reason they rationalized the automatic package.

I would venture to guess because it's an 06 and not an 08 HHR SS. I haven't seen the inside of an SS with a 5 speed, but would venture to guess that the shifter may be placed somewhat differently than in the standard HHR, thus their reason for not including it.

 

SS shifter is in an "enhanced position" the original shifter is in a different position.

 

You are correct about shifter placement!

 

The seatback is the same. I bet the bung is there to mount the arm rest.

 

An armrest would interfere with my vehicle operation. I've owned two other HHRs (not SS) before my new SS arrived. So far in 2000 miles I really don't miss it unless I'm on one of those boring straight high speed stretches of the I-5 freeway. So....I look for alternate routes.......and, yes......my wife REALLY misses the armrest but she can't really complain....her 1923 T-roadster doesn't have armrests either.

Oh well, life itself is imperfect.

 

I don't think I would like the armrest on the drivers seat, I drove a standard HHR with on for a while and it would be in the way of your elbow when shifting a manual, HOWEVER, one on the pass seat would work reasonably well, as it would be out of the way, but on the standard HHR I drove, the pass armrest was really in a decent position for the drivers arm. (No passenger, though if it was my sweety, a leg, shoulder, ect could substitute )
