Ive Been Doing My Research On The HHR/SS For Months, Tested A Few Of Them Auto And Stick And I Just Cant See What The Big Deal Is, Its Like People Woke Up And There Is A Car In There Driveway With A Million Issues That Were Not There When They Drove The Car Off The Lot... I Did My Homework For More Than A Year Before I Bought My Cobalt SS... I Found Reviews About How Stiff The Seats Were, How Noisy The SC Is, Poor Gas Milage, Bad Vis With The High Wing, Ect Ect Ect. When I Finally Drove My SS Home I Knew Excactly What I Had, And I Sure Didnt Hit The Forums To Complain About My New Purchase. Do People Even Do Research Before They Buy Cars Any More. We All Have The Internet And We All Have The Money To Spend On Cars, It Just Seems Like People Would Do A Little More Before They Lay Down 20+K On A Set Of Wheels... Im Not Trying To *****, But Im Tierd Already Of SS Owners And There Complaints...
Be Lucky You Are In The Spot Where You Can Say "I Drive An SS". Not Everyone In Life Will Have The Chance To Own An SS.
This Is My SS The Day I Drove Her Home. Still To Date, No Complaints, And I Still Feel Blessed, To Say I Drive An SS!
You know you seem to be a pretty amazing guy, you seem to moan and groan about someone who may not think or do research like you do, instead of you b****hing all of the time about people who have a complaint for whatever reason, if you know so much, why don't you just offer your knowledge, in that way you would be helping that person better understand what they need to know, instead of condemning him for what he or she doesn't know. Who knows you might even feel good about it!!!

It is kind of interesting to see the different preferences in seats (performance and bolsters vs flat), no armrests vs armrests. My wife chose a BMW over an Audi mainly because the "performance" seats in the BMW had bolsters and were way more comfortable for her (very similar to HHR SS). She was the main instigator in my doing the Perf passenger seat install in the SS. We had armrests in our Chevy van, and our Silverado and never once used them (seriously). We do 12 hr drives occasionally, so the long haul isn't a factor. Like I said...interesting preferences. Glad 'cause I think armrests are really unattractive anyway.

But Having "Knowledge" About Armrests Is Just Silly

OK guys, start over, shake hands, buy each other a beer (you are both obviously sharp and know what you are talking about). There is no such thing as a dumb or silly topic, there are all kinds of random threads here. "Complaints" about the SS should be taken in the context that we frickin' love this car! Were all here to have some fun and relax, so .............

I could go on but I don't want to bore you. Besides you seem to be a "Doubting Thomas" about most things .

Go to a couple of the Corvette Forums and review some members MPG. What you find, may surprise you .

hi JAY. I am the same way as you, doing research before i buy a vehicle. I was like that in 2004 when i bought my honda civic si coupe new. My only ''complaint'' was/is that dont have any low end torque, but i knew that i was not buying a hi-po hot rod and other then that, i'm happy with the quality and reliability. So, as many here know..i have been lurking and lingering on the forums...reading..posting question...and still no HHR SS!!!. pRETTY MUCH MADE UP MY MIND that i want an SS, but till then i welcome all the good and bad forum members reviews and observations of having owning one. Most times people will buy a car after a short test drive...and things that you never thought to come to mind days after you bought it ..sometimes weeks after ownership. I think its great when somebody mentions an arm rest thats missing, a dome light not the brightest...or lack of underhood insulation. WHY? because it makes me think long and hard if i too will be happy or unhappy when i finally purchase my SS. I read here...then go check out the SS at a few dealerships and jog my memory of forum members comments...and i say to myself '' ahhh ..thats not as bad! or..''hey...they were right..this sucks!''. Guess what im saying..is im absorbing it all in and when i purchase i will live with my deciscion . Everybody keep your thoughts, opinions and observations coming in....it helps us all in the long run. We spend sooo much time in our cars that its good to get as much info as possible before buying, the smart thing to do is get as much consumer/public opinion as you can..the good, the bad..and the ugly!

Must you capitalize every word? That first post was almost hard to read.

I could not agree any more with c2vette. We are simply mentioning little issues with the car. We are so in tune with it that most people would not even notice these issues. I personally LOVE my HHR SS!!!

Overall I give the car a 9.9 out of 10 simply due to little things like the seat controls are hard to reach, and no arm rests, etc. So, with all my complaints cost the car 1 tenth off. Does this put it into perspective?

The issues are not that big, we just love talking about the car and we can do it here.

Jay, you even mentioned that you read forums and researched the issues with your car before you bought. But if those people did not do, what we are doing here, you would not have that information before buying your car...

Consider what we are doing as a public service. If you do not want to read complaints then simply...don't read complaints. Move along and contribute where you can...

We want to help everyone, as I'm sure you want to as well.

Darn, I thought the purpose of a "forum" was to discuss things about the subject the forum was named for. For me, the 10 mile test drive of a HHR SS did not allow for observation of EVERY aspect of the car, and as a matter of fact, when I ordered my SS, it was not known that the manual did not have armrests, AND it was not known that the passenger seat was BIG time different in looks than the performance seat, as some of the demo cars had performance looking seats in both spots when you saw the pictures on the internet and or magazines.
So my thought would be, if you don't like what people comment about, or want to talk about, DON"T read it! For me, if I can read on here about a part number or idea that can change my car in a way that makes it more enjoyable for me, then I am happy to be here.

PS Jay: If my Z06 did not have a cupholder, or armrest, then I and quite a few others, would NOT have bought them, because even a sports car is supposed to be "usable". Or is your idea of a sports car the original Viper, with vinyl snap on side windows? Oh, my Z06 can get 30 on the highway, and I've averaged 19 over the last 2000 miles overall. (EPA 19/29)
