Incentives to clear out the 08s?

This is about the time that GM starts major rebate incentives to clear out their inventory. Since the 72 month 0% financing ends today, do you think they will reintroduce a $2K or more rebate going forward? I'm looking to buy in early August, and I would assume the 2009 HHR will be on the lots by then. I will likely buy an 2008 HHR SS outright, or finance a small portion of it through my own bank, so I was not interested in the 0% financing they just offered.

I know I am taking somewhat of a risk, because as time goes on the 2008 stock is dwindling, and I may not be able to get the exact model I want. If they enact some decent rebates after today, I might take the plunge sooner than August.

BTW - I have done so much research on cars in the past few months. I cannot find any vehicle other than the HHR SS that meets my requirements of price, features, speed, MPG, sportiness, and cool factor. All other vehicles fall short in one or more of those categories. So by process of elimination, the SS will be my next vehicle.

Congrats on your choice! It is a great car!

You can count on carmakers, GM included, to have some rebates going to clear the lot of their 08 cars. The stock will be smaller, especially with people running to get into smaller cars but they will be able to go out and look for you. If you are in an area with a lot of Chevy dealers around, you will have even better luck with this. I am not sure if the 09 will be on lot in early August, I would think later August into September (although I could have sworn I saw a 09 malibu the other day).

You can go to Chevy.com and on the left column choose "find a vehicle." You can view all the HHR SS cars in the area.

just asking, why wouldn't you be interested in 0% financing??? i mean,i can see if you were holding out for an 09,so the 0% would be useless. however,if you're wanting an 08,go today and do it!!! doesn't make sense to wait a month later and miss[B]0%[B]financing and still end up with an 08. heck,do what i did. they didn't have the model i wanted, but i told them what i wanted and they found one and i signed the papers on it. it comes in today . just so i could get the 0%.

He is going to pay for most of the HHR outright, therefore he wants to wait for some nice rebates that will make him have to pay less.

I lied. I just read somewhere that the 09 HHRs will be here in about 3-4 weeks.

I do not seeing things getting any better then what they are today 0% for 72 is very rarely done on cars that get good gas mileage and especially the SS version.

I am not sure what your area is like, but the SS's are drying up in my area. I had my dealer just do a search for me and there are 2 5 speeds in a 200 mile radius of me, not good..

I would BUY one today if you find one you like and to me waiting on an 09 is not an option. I could care less about the upgraded brakes and other small changes.

If GM is offering 2500 right now, it is probably a good time. If it goes up, it will be to 3000, but not anymore. People want this car now.

I had a hard time finding a 5 speed SS in my area when the promotion first came out (when it was only for "72 hours"). I don't know what it will be like after today (supposedly the last day of the 0%).

I agree, it is almost unheard of that an SS type model gets such an aggressive incentive!

There is a $2500 incentive on 2008 HHR SS's right now? I thought it was only a 3 day duration last week or whenever?
