By Chevy standards anyway. I own a 2.2 so could never have an SS model. Even WITH a Turbocharger.
Makes no differance, the HHR SS has a turbo. Adding "SS" to any vehicle that is not a factory "SS" is nothing but a poser. I don't care if it runs twice as fast. It's still a poser.

Now an SS killer, is another thing. But why would you call it the same as a factory package?

Bottom line, don't be a poser, you only fool yourself.

I need to get some body work done to mine, and then I'll put the SS badge on mine, but it will stand for "Super Sexy"

I'm glad RSM didn't rip you off. They changed to Z-spec. They are crocks and frauds. That is why they are Z-spec now. They had something like 37 complaints in 36 months....last time the company was brought up on j-body.org.

I've been a member of F-body forums for a quite a few years now and I can tell you that when someone takes a Z28 or even a V6 Camaro and puts SS badges on it, it's really considered an affront by the guys who actually own an SS.

As for myself, I couldn't care less what ppl do with their cars, it's all an individual expression of who you are and what you want your vehicle to look like.

HOWEVER, just know you may be driving down the street some day, and some guy in an SS Camaro (or maybe even an older one perhaps a Chevelle SS or a Malibu SS) will yell out, "POSER!"

You have been warned. jmho

After watching the video..
Per the VP ... all that is required for a Chevy to have a "SS" destination is

**Stopping power --- I have larger then stock (4) wheel discs... got that covered.

**Acceleration - I have larger injectors, aftermarket intake, headers, high flow cats, cat back exhaust and ECM reflashed - got that covered

**Ability to go around corners fast - I have front and rear anti-sway bars, lowered springs and (4) Koni-sport shocks .. I got them all covered

I have my "SS"
I seem to remember reading that they upgrade either the cam or rods in the engine itself.

That aside, your are driving a car that has totally lost it's warranty. I looked at buying a used HHR and doing a custom rebuild with similar items, however, by the time you add it up, it will probably cost way more than the warrantied stand items that come included with the SS

I modified my HHR (not an SS) and put over 36,000 miles on it, in little over a year, and have TOTALLY LOST MY WARRANTY, without even getting to use it!!!!

What do I do now??

Do you expect the SS to have many Warranty issues??

i would imagine the first batches to come off the line might have an issue or two, that's almost inevitable with a new model. I've heard the intercooler may not be up to snuff keeping the t/c system cool, who knows?

That's why i think its a good thing to wait a bit before taking delivery of one of these puppies.

If it wasn't up to snuff, it wouldn't have made it through the desert environment testing grid in Mexico or the arctic environment test grid in Canada.

If you're going to put an SS badge on a car when there's an SS version of that car in production, it better be like that model or better. I've always thought it'd be cool to put the SS ground effects and some better brakes and suspension pieces on my 1LT and have a couple of RS badges made up, but I would never put an SS badge on it.

Of course, if I ever get enough cash to do the LS4 conversion, I won't need no stinkin' badges to prove how cool I am!

I made MY HHR SS BEFORE there was even a factory one was even mentioned being built.. So am I supposed to take my badges off just because the Factory Finally decided to make one.. Nope I was ahead of them...

You don't remember but back in the 60's the SS was just an appearance package, all it was was badging... you could even get a 6 cyl. with a powerglide...

I have a REAL SS El Camino. but it is not as it was built, when new GM saw fit to put in a 305V8 in it with a 3 speed automatic...now it has a 350 bored 30 over with a 700R4 transmission, so is my El Camino A Poser?.
Have you ever heard of a Clone? There are many muscle cars running around today that started out as grocery getters, but people are now building them into look alike Muscle cars. Even Hot Rod Magazine did an article on how to make a ss396 out of a plain Malibu... If they can do it so can we...

PS Your little poser coment made me think of the movie "Wild Hogs" when the Biker guy called Tim allen and his buddies "Posers" yet when the real biker guy shows up , the one they all thought was the ultimate example of a biker, He said that They were the posers not Tim Allen and his buddies..) I have never in my 54 years ever heard anyone use the term POSER in reference to a car until you did.
