I've got my HHR SS
I made MY HHR SS BEFORE there was even a factory one was even mentioned being built.. So am I supposed to take my badges off just because the Factory Finally decided to make one.. Nope I was ahead of them...
You don't remember but back in the 60's the SS was just an appearance package, all it was was badging... you could even get a 6 cyl. with a powerglide...
I have a REAL SS El Camino. but it is not as it was built, when new GM saw fit to put in a 305V8 in it with a 3 speed automatic...now it has a 350 bored 30 over with a 700R4 transmission, so is my El Camino A Poser?.
Have you ever heard of a Clone? There are many muscle cars running around today that started out as grocery getters, but people are now building them into look alike Muscle cars. Even Hot Rod Magazine did an article on how to make a ss396 out of a plain Malibu... If they can do it so can we...
PS Your little poser coment made me think of the movie "Wild Hogs" when the Biker guy called Tim allen and his buddies "Posers" yet when the real biker guy shows up , the one they all thought was the ultimate example of a biker, He said that They were the posers not Tim Allen and his buddies..) I have never in my 54 years ever heard anyone use the term POSER in reference to a car until you did.

The '95 Impala SS and the '98 Camaro SS changed the outlook of the SuperSport program for Chevrolet. It became an expectation that those packages include performance options above and beyond the non-SS version of the car.
I personally would not put SS badges on my car unless I did a full SS conversion, including the engine and suspension pieces. I've seen people slap SS badges on everything from Aveos to V6-powered Silverados. What's worse is seeing cobra badges on Contours.
Having said all that, if I had an SS, I'd probably de-badge it anyway.
You are right--the SS/RS packages were merely appearance packages and the RPO codes like Z28 and WS6 determined the performance capabilities of the car. However, things are a little different now.

SS stands for SuperSport, Not SuperFast, or SuperRacecar, It is SuperSport... and I feel Pretty Sporty in my HHR SS.
If anyone wants to make their Chevy look like an SS i say Go for it, It's your car, Make it the way you want. that is all that matters.

BTW anyone wanting to make their SS look like a regular HHR I will swap my Chrome grill for the painted one, if it is in my color....

After watching the video..
Per the VP ... all that is required for a Chevy to have a "SS" destination is
**Stopping power --- I have larger then stock (4) wheel discs... got that covered.
**Acceleration - I have larger injectors, aftermarket intake, headers, high flow cats, cat back exhaust and ECM reflashed - got that covered
**Ability to go around corners fast - I have front and rear anti-sway bars, lowered springs and (4) Koni-sport shocks .. I got them all covered
I have my "SS"

ya gotta tell us about the mods. Rear discs from a Cobalt? Header? injectors? tell us more in a separate thread.
Pics of the header install would be cool though!
I know you can't find them though, but if you ever come across them....it would be helpful...gonna put the header on after the 36K mile mark passes....

Right now it's sitting in the back seat of my '95 Cavalier.
I guess that would make anyone that debadged an SS to look like a plain Jane HHR with a aero kit a....POSER!!!
I really do like the side skirts on that SS aero kit. I might pick up a set of those and get them shot in Daytona Blue rather than getting a set of boards wrapped in CF-vinyl like I'd originally planned.
Nope. Just someone who doesn't want yet another tacky badge cluttering up the otherwise clean lines of the car

I just like the look.. don't need the performance... It runs great, gets great mileage and if I really want to I can get into enough trouble with the 2.4 LOL
Thats what makes America so Great, You can be an Individual.. Do your own thing.:)
Have fun!
