The foam on the speakers degrades badly. When I replaced mine, hardly any foam left. I installed 4 6.5" coax and problem solved. Use the original speaker brackets to install the new speakers, don't pay for adapters. I also soldered the original plugs to the new speakers so they plugged into the factory harness.
