Top one: I cut the bow-tie out of Bakelite, painted it flat black. the SS is off the door with color matched paint, inserted a color matched aluminum piece inside to hide the holes in the grill.

Bottom one: I cut out of some random plastic also used the color matched back plate. It didn't like weather too much and got too brittle

I'm working on a new grill one that I'm gonna hack up the stock bow-tie and utilize the door badge again... and once again go flat black

My 2006 Impala SS did not have any SS badges on the front. I removed the bowtie and added the stick-on SS , and it looked a lot better
