P0101. No boost.

I searched and read many threads related to P0101 and loosing boost.
I’m finding out that I’m not the only one with this issue. BUT none of the threads actually leads to the cure of this issue....

its a 08 SS Auto. 129kmiles. (Bought it a month ago with 127k miles)

It was running great till about 10 days ago.
i noticed a vacuum line from the solenoid to the lower charge pipe was just hanging.
I quickly found out the nipple has broken off from the charge pipe (I posted another thread asking how I can get the charge pipe off...)
When I lost the boost a few days later, CEL came on soon after the boost loss.
I took it to the dealer where I bought it from since it’s still in the 90day/4000miles warranty. They replaced the MAF and it was running fine for 2 days only.... same thing.
They told me the lower charge pipe wasn’t covered, so I decided to fix the nipple.
after the nipple repair, it was running good for 2 days. I lost boost this eve. CEL came on. (P0101 again).
I thightemed the intake connections (at turbo, inter cooler inlet and outlet). It didn’t look loose but I could tighten it pretty easily....
I cleared the code and see what’ll happen.

If it happens again, I really wouldn’t know what to do at that point!!

any suggestion?

i will report back after a few days...

Is this why you started another thread about the P0101 code?

I don't know why they threw parts at it if they were paying for it. Usually that kind of stupidity is applied when the customer is paying.

Did they install the correct MAF for your SS? Or a generic aftermarket brand?

oldblue,
yes I started another thread because I was asking help on how to change the lower pipe in this thread and wasn’t sure if I can ask a separate issue (although they are related...)

Thabk you for bringing it to this thread...

i just hope hope I can solve this p0101 issue soon. After all, I got my SS “because I fell in love with it’s turbo power” and without a boost, it’s not an SS at all...

So, do you have any paperwork, work order or receipt, that shows a part number for the MAF they installed?
Why is the charge pipe not included, when it is an integral piece of the turbo charging system?

You might have to pull out the charge pipe and visually check it for cracks or splits.

And as we see here it could be a clogged catalytic converter also!

https://www.obd-codes.com/p0101

It could simply be a loose pin in the MAF connections
That being said, check any ground wires .

I’d have to check then paper when I get home.
I’ll post when I find out.
Thank you!

When I was running errands, it lost boost again today.
Just like the last time, I was in freeway, cruising easy @65mph.
I then got off the freeway, pulled over and turned off the ign then restarted, so boost comes back at least for a little while.
Well, I was kinda upset and I floored it and I saw more boost than I’ve ever seen since I bought the car. It went past 15, more like 20.
I know for a fact I do NOT have GMTU or any aftermarket tune....
I’m back at work now (I should’ve be posting here while I’m at work, I know... hehe)
so I won’t be able to test drive till I get off work.

Ill find out more on my way home tonight...

Ok, now it's starting to sound like your boost control solenoid. You don't have a P0234? Maybe check the codes again. Have a read https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-s...estions-55719/

its an AC/DELCO 15865791.
It appears to be the right part.

On my my way home, no boost.... stoped at a local Autozone to scan the code.
as I expected, it was the same ol P0101 AGAIN!

I don’t know where to look and what to check now....
