Lower intercooler piping repair

Was loosing boost and cel codes P0101 and P0107. Took to dealer who said the lower intercooler piping was hit while the hood was up or by a rock. Hit by Is that even possible was my question. Of course he said yes.

What say you? Should I accept that answer or get another opinion or repair it myself?

Oh by the way, he quoted me $1100.

Holy Crap. I just had my IC pipe replaced under extended warranty and it was nowhere near as $1100.00. Where is the crack? If it's around the plastic welded plate that the TMAP is hosted to then they're full of it because they're known to fail sometimes. Mine did. If it's another spot, it's still a plastic pipe so eventually it will fail after years of heat and pressure. Not sure how it would have gotten "hit".

The factory replacement pipe from GM was like $300. Get a 2nd quote or do it yourself.

I'm leaning towards doing it yourself with better pipes...If you take the front bumper off its not that hard with basic hand tools

OH and it won't be anywhere near that price....

but I would totally verify that there is definitely a leak and which pipe its coming from...a lot of these dealers have not seen or worked on our SS's

You're expressing what I'm thinking. I'll pick it up tonight unrepaired. Then I'll see what and where they're talking about. I thought it should be covered under powerchain warranty. Dealer told me it wasn't a manufacture defect.

Get a second opinion and get them to verify where the leak is.

Oh and I highly doubt it was hit by a rock, thats absurd...if a rock did that, it would have torn up more stuff..bottom of the intercooler/radiator/oilpan...there is a very small amount of that pipe exposed at the bottom, and frankly I dont see a bouncing rock on the thruway hitting it either..

Are you having normal boost sometimes?

That's impossible. I would go to a different dealer to have it diagnosed, this one is full of it. Here is where it lives, couldn't get to it, for the covering under the bumper. I suspect the same thing is going on that mine had. The bracket was the fix.

No, there is no boost at any time.

Just picked up my SS. The service tech couldn't show me the problem. Basically, he didn't know what he was talking about.

I'll crawl underneath tonight to see what I can find.

Is that the piping on the right side of the pic where it appears to attach to ic?
