Did you replace the top bushing on the struts ? They wear out and make noise.

 

I replaced everything when I put the B&Gs in last summer. New Bolts, Top Mounts, Struts, Sway Bar end links and Sway Bar Bushings. They have less than 6-8K miles on them.

 

Then I would ask John for some tips...we have 3 sets of yyz's in the group they are all doing a stellar job......Maybe there is something amiss with the install, you are the first one I have heard anything but..... we love these springs.

thats weird...if anything i would see the rears making noise. Try resetting them in place.
Like SSfan stated, shoot John an email and he will get back to you asap! He's good like that.

 

It's been raining here but Im going to check them out this weekend more than likely. I verified everything is buttoned down good and the springs look seated properly.

Dont get me wrong it's not bad at all but if Im say sitting still and turn the wheels left/right you can hear them clang around on the strut.

 

Hi , I've been waiting to see & hear the results of the lowered springs.

I have a 2008 SS with 79,500 miles, & need to replace my rear shocks.

Was thinking about lowering it , but I don't want to deal with clunking, or banging.

What's the final results, or recommendations?

 

I don't really know anything, but has anybody considered getting "shorter" rear shocks when installing drop springs?

The shocks limit the throw of the trailing arm. The shocks have a valve at a certain point in their travel to adjust things.

I have never had any interest in lowering, so I'm just interested in the discussion.

 

I know I'm coming in and the end of this thread basically, but I wanted to share my opinion on the Canuck Motorsport springs for people who are still searching. I have them and I love them! They don't have them for the HHR SS, but they do have them for the Cobalt SS and that's what I'm using. The difference is the spring rates from what I've read. The rear doesn't go as low as I want, but I plan to fix that this spring. I have some new KYBs to put on, just haven't yet... the ride is a little bouncy and my shocks are gone, but I don't mind. Lol
We'll see how the KYBs do with the Canucks soon.
oh! And as far as clunking, banging or noise, there is none with these springs!

The rears are silent but im still getting clunking under turning conditions. Slow, Fast it doesnt matter I've sent an email to John and just waiting to hear back before I try and take the car apart again.

 

cjay117 , I've been running on the Canucks and KYB struts and shocks for 4 years now! No noises, rattles, clunks, dead coils or bouncy bounce or bottoming out! Them are a great way to lower a non SS HHR!
