Here is a previous thread, which includes some good suggestions other than what I did.

Red face The UAF option on the 2009's has the shift light.

But, true to form, the little Chinese gadget doesn't seem to want to work properly with the 5-speed SS. That's why people like me and many others are still waiting for their '09 SS's. I doubt there is any need in the auto tranny for a shift light. I try not to get the engine to rev over 2400 rpm when I'm shifting, better for gas mileage. That means I'm usually in 3rd gear when crossing 4-lane intersections when starting from a stop. Cruising at 2400 rpm gets me running at 55 mph also. In fact, the only time I run over 3000 rpm is when I'm cruising @ 75-80 mph, and that's just barely over 3000 rpm. But, like I have to admit, I don't have an HHR yet. My VW Passat with the 1.8 turbo rated at 170 hp is not in the same league with the SS. So, come Christmas, when I may finally have my HHR, I'll get to feel the way you guys do. Again, I still don't know why people want to stare at the boost gauge and cause more worry than is needed.
