No real need to add a liner, blanket, w/e. It just makes a smaller space around the sub. When I burn CD's I usually tailor them equalized for whatever Im playing them on. I use iTunes and kick on the EQ before I burn em. Then futz with the balance chingas to get it just right.

Listen to some of your favorite CD's, some XM, then decide for yourself. My opinion is that it is very inferior to many other "premium" systems. I am gradually replacing all speakers, adding dynamat etc, additional amps, etc. I had a Pontiac G6 rental, and it had an excellent sound system that I would have been very happy with, so I am not just down on factory systems.

When I took delivery, I had no desire at all to have the premium sound package, as I was planning to install the Clarion gear I had from my tC (7" touchscreen DVD + HDD NAV). They were legally unable to swap the premium stuff for stock, but they did take off the price of all the premium stuff - something close to $600.

My reaction to the premium package...eh. It's nothing fantastic, but it's not bad either. I use my iPod most of the time, and with the volume at 100% on that, I can get the music up pretty damn loud. The mini-sub does what a mini-sub should do...adds some filler bass. If you want real sub performance, you'll want something bigger. For me, it works.

I'm waiting for my free XM to expire to see if I miss it when it's gone. Holding on to my Clarion gear but taking offers on it, still can't decide if I want to put it back in or not.

If you shift the Fade a little to the rear speakers it helps with the Bass as well I found.

This is strange. I visited the dealer to look at the SS I want (it was closed so I couldn't get in car). Nowhere on the sticker does it mention anything about XM radio. Yet is has both antennas on the roof. Isn't the XM standard on the SS? Or is it an option? Why wouldn't the 7 speaker stereo have XM? Or is it just not listed on the sticker?

Pretty sure the XM is standard and 3 months free. Also the antenna on the back is for Onstar as well as XM I believe

Interestingly the sticker lists the On-Star, but not the XM.

If the rear antenna is for both XM and Onstar, what is the front antenna for?

When I was looking for an SS there were some without XM but with the Premium 6 cd changer. Never saw them to see what antenna's were on the car though... On the 2008's it's an option.
