Reprogramming 2008 FOB

Somehow my battery drained in my 2008 HHR SS which meant my fob no longer worked and TMPS readouts went to " -- " on all four. Dealer gets $130 labor to replace some module that "got locked" when battery drained, $70 for the module itself, then another $65 to program the module (part #35974373).

Would this receiver "get locked" if battery drains?

It should just need a new flash with updated firmware. Direct them to this TSB, it is specific to 2008 models.

I'll ask them about it, thanks. Probably not but is there a way to test the module outside the car? I'm going to ask for the old module.

ReRead the TSB. There is no hardware fault. Just software.

They misprogrammed 2008 RCDLR so that it lost its memory if the battery went completely dead for an extended time.

If you can convince them to look at it they can even get detailed directions from the "labor operation" code. Doubtful.

They are throwing parts at a known problem with a published correction.

I'll take these to them and see what they say. Thanks! Did you scan those two or do you have access to the bulletins themselves that you could scan/send?

If you can get them off of their lazy butts they have it in the GM corporate documentation. Also available in the TSB thread; post #55 here https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...d-23231/page6/
