Congrats on your new ride. I am really digging the silver. I can offer some advice on where to buy your GMPP stag1 kit. You should buy it from Crateenginedepot.com it comes with a plug and play harness that makes the install much easier, no sodering or cutting your existing wiring. There have been reports of faulty installs with the original kit.

Crateenginedepot developed the harness so it's the only place you can purchase it. The good news is the cost is 5 dollars less then the one you put up and that includes the upgraded harness.

Also you might want a tranny mount to stop wheel hop. Lots of choices out there. I recommend Powell Race Shop trans mount. John Powell is the person who invented the mount and it works really well. It's 110 plus shipping. Thats the only mount I am using and I am extremely happy.
You can get The mount here. http://www.powellraceshop.com/ you have to Email them Gloria or John. Their website sucks.
They also make one of the best Rear sway bars out. You might want to check out some reviews of Powell Race Shop parts.

Best of luck with your car. Welcome

I ordered a few bits...TTR rear sway bar, TTR motor mount, some pedals, before I saw the Powell post. I thought I should take care of that stuff before GMS1 goes in. It did get me thinking, I wish I had the Brembos, too. I was going to buy the calipers from a guy here, but I'm not sure what else I'd need. Anybody know if I'll need new rotors, lines, bolts, etc.? I figured I'd need new rotors to fit, but I was hoping the rest of the bits would transfer over. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Again crate engine depot for the brembo upgrade as well.
I am not sure if this is the exact kit for our cars but you can call them to check. Speak to Tom he has the cobalt and hhr's back.
$672 for everything.
Here is the link

I have brembos and they are cool but just to warn you their are trade offs. You can't put the spare on the front axel and wheels are very hard to find that clear them.
I personally think a good set of pads, ss lines, change of brake fluid and a performance set of rotors. You are just as good and in some ways better than a stock Brembo setup.

SS lines would have to be a custom job using universial lines but it can be done. I am still waiting on that my self. I am not telling you not to get the brembos I just showing you the other side.

Sorry I almost forgot the brembos do look sexy.

Hey Pimphand, thanks for the head's up. I was going to go for the calipers in the classifieds here...

but now I'm wondering if I should. I have the stock SS 18" wheels and wasn't planning on changing them. They should fit those, right? On top of the calipers, I figure I'm in for some rotors, at least. That's another $200.00 +, plus lines, etc. That's as much as the whole kit. I guess I'll pass.

I decided to wait on the brakes. I think I'll stick with the stock set up and go to stainless lines and ceramic pads when the time comes. I'll paint the calipers then, too, I think. In the meantime I've slowly made the SS my own with a few small mods. Since the car is silver it looks pretty good with carbon fiber, so I'm running with that theme. I got a the Sherwood full carbon dash kit and I'm just waiting for some free time to install. I got an adjustable carbon shorty antenna and some real carbon license plate frames. I also wrapped the Bow Ties in carbon. I stuck on some carbon overlays on the SSs and center caps. I'll soon debadge the HHR, Turbocharged, and chicklet emblems and just leave the SSs on there. Since I live in CA, I've got to be mellow on the performance stuff. Stupid CA laws. I put on a K&N air filter and I did the TTR motor mount and rear sway bar. I also installed a CGS axle back exhaust. I know some folks here don't like them, but I got a deal on it and, together with the the K&N, I've actually seen a slight MPG increase. I really like the tone, too...nice and throaty. I've got the GMTU kit ordered from Crate, so that goes in next weekend, hopefully. I put a CG Lock on the driver's side seatbelt, which keeps my butt firmly planted. I got an aluminum pedal kit that just came in, so those might go on tonight. I really LOVE this car. For guys/gals 'of a certain age' with kids and whatnot, the HHR SS is a really fun car that combines power, economy and safety in a sweet little package. I'm STOKED!

Wondering how long it was going to be before someone found out about the STG-1 chrome plate holders. Watch out for the CHIP's.
