Service Air Bag

I have about 1600 miles on my new 09 HHR SS ad every now and then my "Service Air Bag" light comes on. It does not come all the time but just every so often. Has anyone else had this problem.

I had this happen every time I made a left turn over 20mph. The dealer corrected it under warranty as it happened to them while test driving for another issue. I think there is a TSB issued for it, something to do with chafed wires in the steering wheel.

Went to the dealer yesterday after work. The "service air bag" light was not on. They checked it out and said "Found failure code stored in history. Tested system. Advised customer operating properly at this time." The mechanic checked the system, cleared the code and test drove the car. When I got in the car and closed the car to leave, the "service air bag" light was on. So I left the car running and went back to the desk. The mechanic came out and could not believe the light was on so he took it back in and rechecked the system again. This time a B0083 code came up. It was for an internal failure in the front sensor. He replaced the front discriminating sensor (part number 15821097) and re-tested the system again and everything looked okay. Hopefully this fixed the problem. Will keep you posted !
