The roads here in mid-michigan are bad too, but I have some curves in my commute that I love to hammer so I will cough a couple teeth for a couple G's! LOL So they do bolt in, thanks for the tip! the bad part is tons of places will sell you FE3 all day long..

DO NOT buy Cobalt SS/TC struts & shocks to use for your HHR SS. they are different part #s.

i recommend buying HHR SS OEM struts & shocks from crateenginedepot.com, give them a call and ask for Tom. be sure to have your vin # available.



as for tires, i'm loving my Goodyear GTs in factory size 225/45/18

If you're willing to trade good treadwear for handling, I would say go with the Falken RT-615. They have an extremely stiff sidewall, and are about as close as you can get to an r-compound while still being able to drive them in the cold and rain. I've run them on my GTO for the last 3 years and have to say that they have the best lateral grip of any tire I have tried.

 

Well we did a shock / strut test with my buddies test set up and there's zero difference between the SS HHR one's that came off his HHR and the SS Cobalt one's we installed on our 1LT Panel HHR except for the numbers! Only difference was the numbers and price, the Cobalt one's being two hundred dollars less than our friendly neighborhood dealer! Also we removed his struts and shocks as he went with the Pedders Coil Over setup on his SS Panel!

i ran them and had issues. very bouncy & noisey.

i bought new HHR SS struts/shocks from CED and all is good.

 

There is an absolute weight difference, how the hell could they be the same?

 

Weight difference isn't that much.......

 

i have Nitto NT555 and i like them, good traction, wet and dry, quiet, and they should last pretty long if you can keep your foot off the lout petal
