Shocks and Tires
Not here to be in a pissing match
! They compressed and rebounded at the same rate
! If unsure spend the extra money for piece of mind but our HHR is just fine with SS Cobalt Strut / Shock offering combined with Eibach Pro Springs
!

I am running them and have been for 8 months with no issues and many others have. Your bad luck I'd say.
I have noticed that alot of the parts that are interchangable between the cobalt and HHR have different part numbers, but lets run the numbers on weight and see:
Cobalt SS - 3,001 lb
HHR SS - 3353 lb
Diff = 352lbs
Divide that by 2 (seeing that is curb weight) and the HHR weighs 176 lbs more in the back half (translates to minimal) in spring rate and shock rebound talk for a daily street production car.

but if people want to save a little money and get the struts/shocks for a Cobalt, go for it. it ain't my car.
Theres is a big weight difference, 350lbs is almost 9 bags of water softener salt which would make a pickup ride different. Nope, if I am spending the $$$ I am going with HHR parts. When the strut I had was replaced under warranty it took them forever to get it and if they could have slapped a colbalt unit on it they would have, becasue I was KILLING the miles on their loaner car (LOL). I wish the Bilstein's and Koni's of the world made them but it is what it is I guess...
I spoke to Crate Engine Depot and after running my VIN suggested using HHR SS FE5 parts ... front and rear are $387.76 shipped to my door (not too shabby... local dealer wanted $517.00!) Thanks for the tip!!! $$$$$$
