OK. Cut a plastic backing from some scrap I had.The extra 2 lag bolt/screws are the type I used on the backing shown. Ground off the excess end of the screws that poked through. I ground them flush on the emblem side. The red color rubber spacers take up the space in the grill mesh. The nuts shown are the ones I'm using for attachment.
The plastic backing is cut to match the outline border of the SS emblem.

Thanks
Was it a side ss emblem you used or a back ss emblem you used
Did you screw the lags into the plastic and then cut off the extra before mounting the ss emblem?

Bigjack. If you would read all my posts, you would see earlier that I said it was the rear(smaller) emblem. That part # should show you that.
I cut the backing to correct size before the lag screws. Sanded the edges smooth. Then held the backing up to the grill so I could find the best mounting spot in relation to the openings in the grill. Marked the back side for screw locations. Inserted the lag screws at the marked centers(2 diamond shape marks from tracing through the grill) Or you could just measure center to center between the grill diamond openings.
Gound off flush, the excess parts of the screws that stuck through. Carefully used my bench grinder.
Lastly. I put the emblem on the backing plate. Then mounted it on the car.

Ya I read your posts but was confused when I ran the part # on ebay they mainly come in pairs so I was assuming the part # you gave was for the sides?
Where did you get lag screws red shims etc lowes home depot or just something you had
thanks again for the info.
The emblem looks awesome on your ride I just think it keeps with the old musclecar look of the ss in front
besides when you are parked in a parking lot and you can only see the front it makes it look nice to be able to see the ss emblem.

Just found this site concerning the ss badges very cool

I got these from Flaming Graphics. They made them not only for the grille bowtie, but also for the wheels.

The high quality 3M with heat works like welding, this piece is small, and it isn't going anywhere.

Very cool is that the rear ss emblem also?
not sure I like the word Toyota scion on the front though.
Just me though.
Of course the answer you could have ready for anyone who ever says that is.
Well you are only going to see the back of SS when we are on the road anyways.
