It's not 3 hours. Parts & Labor should only run about $750

Normal time for this install is 2.0 hours. Depends on labor rate as to dollars. It's $160 at our accessory install rate. If we charged door rate it would be $206. Most dealers do everything at their door rate. Smart ones that want to get the accessory business, charge less on the accessory installs.

I was under the impression that the dealer cant charge more then what it calls for. I paid 150 for install when i got mine. Ive had it since a week after it was released

Dealers are independent businesses. They can charge what ever they want on retail transactions.

My service advisor looked up the rate in a book, and I paid $80 for complete installation. I got the kit from Gene Culley for $240.

TSB quotes 2 hours to install....if your dealer charges for more, your paying for their training, plain and simple. I paid under $125 for the dealer who sells the package (gmpartsdirect) to install if for me.

35K later and still running strong.

Give the guys at Gengras Chevrolet a call (they're in Hartford). They did my install (I was their 2nd or 3rd GMTU install) and were VERY fair on the install charge. Tell them I sent you to them.
