Start up brake issue

I am trying to see if the no brake for the first 20sec - 1min. issue can be narrowed down to a certain production batch/time please answer with the correct month of build IF you are having this issue only. Thanks to all who help out with this

I understand that if the vehicle sits for an extended period of time that it happens. I let mine sit for about a week and experienced it. I generally try to warm up the engine for a few seconds before putting it in gear so it isn't a problem but if you start the engine and immediately drive off it can happen on occassion I have read.

yeah i thought it was a problem with all the SS's and rebuilding the amount of vacuum pressure or something like that if it sat for awhile. I'm not a car guy so that' the extent of my knowledge, lots of posts on it here though. Don't really think it's a batch issue, just an issue.

I know mine does this after about 10 hours sitting - consistantly. I have just decided to warm the car up first. I have 4500 miles on my SS with no problems besides this tick. I don't think I want to have anything disturbed at the dealer right now. Plus, I couldn't survive the day without driving it

When you fire up the car cold you can plainly see the boost guage sits around 2-5 inches of Vacuum for the first 10 seconds or so before it builds up to 15 or more.

There is something GM needs to do here but until then waiting (as you have described) for the system to evacuate is the ticket. For us like 15 seconds or so.

Giving it a little bit of time is the norm I think.

I went for two test drives in these car befor I ordered mine and at two seperate dealers the sales person started the car and let it run for 15-20 seconds before we took off. Didn't think anything off it at the time but I am betting this brake issue is the reason. They would make some comment about "sounds nice doesn't it." Both places made a similar comment and I heard an audible change in the tone of the exhaust befor the salesmen drove off with it.

having same issue

I drive mine every day, and after it has sat at night, it does this the next morning. I have gotten into the habit of using my remote start about 2 minutes before i go out to my garage. Seems to work after fine that.

^ ditto - it happens quite frequently. I just remote start it and let it warm up as I'm putting on my shoes, grabbing my stuff, etc. and it's fine.

One time though, it actually did this after having driven for a while - I had just come home and left the car running (in park, duh) while I grabbed my mail from the mailbox, and after I backed out of the spot to drive back to my apartment, when I shifted from reverse to drive, the brakes sputtered and the car started rolling forward, and the Check Oil light came on. I cut the engine and restarted it, and all was fine. This was with about 2500 miles or so on the car, and it hasn't happened even remotely since, so I chalked it up to a fluke of the heat (106 that day) and the steep angle the car had been parked on.
