Stock Hhr Ss 5-spd 1/8 Mile Track Times
HEY GUYS AND GALS,
LET ME START BY SAYING I AM NO PRO AT DRAG RACING.
WHAT I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT LAUNCHING THIS HOT ROD IS THE KEY TO ANY FAST TIMES AT THE TRACK. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT WHEN USING THE LAUNCH CONTROL IF YOU COME OFF THE CLUTCH TOO FAST IS FALLS ON ITS FACE, OR IF YOU JUST USE THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF IT WILL SPIN OR WHEEL HOP. KEEP IN MIND THE DRAG STRIP HAS WAAAY MORE GRIP THAN THE STREET.
THEN THERE IS THE NO-LIFT SHIFT, MY FIRST FEW RUNS I KEPT MISSING SECOND GEAR OR SHOULD I SAY IT WOULD NOT GO INTO SECOND GEAR (FELL ON ITS FACE AGAIN)
THE FIX WAS USE LAUNCH CONTROL BUT WHEN IT IS TIME TO GO LET THE CLUTCH OUT WITH MED-SLOW SPEED IN ONE STEADY MOTION AND RELAX! THEN I GOT THAT BEAUIFUL LSD WORKING WITH JUST A LITTLE TIRE SPIN, NOW FIRST GEAR I BACKED DOWN MY SHIFT POINT TO JUST PAST 5500 RPM NOT THE 6000 OR HIGHER I WAS TRYING BEFORE AND THE SHIFT TO SECOND WAS PERFECT AND ON TO 3RD AT 6200 RPMS NO PROBLEM.
IT TOOK 6 RUNS FOR ME TO GET IT RIGHT, BUT WHEN I DID IT WAS BAD ASSSSS .

JUST WONDERING WHAT YOUR 60FT TIMES WERE?
I SAW A THREAD OUT THERE WITH A SS THAT HAD THE BSR TUNE AND HIS BEST WAS 2.1, I THINK THIS SS IS JUST GOING TO BE A LITLE SLOW OUT OF THE HOLE WHEN STOCK IMOP

drag radials and lower the ratio by putting on 16inch drag radials. there is no reason, i mean no reason with good driving this car can't be a very low 13sec car.(with drag radials,tune and exhaust of course). with 16inch drag radials heated up with a low air pressure,a 2.0 is doable. i have no plans on using launch control,which i think is a saftey feature more than a performance feature.
