Took the SS to the track today.

Exactly what the title says, we took the SS to the track, wife ran it 4 times. There were too many cars to get in more passes, even though we tried. I figure we can get more out of it as 1 this was her first time drag racing, and 2 we are still learing how to drive the SS as it is way different than her Corvette. She was getting faster every time. The best time she got was
15.019 at 95.514MPH with a 2.407 60ft and her slowest reaction time of .802.
She did manage to get a .113 light but missed 2nd. Next time we'll run 14's for sure and maybe I'll have my s-10 there to run low 12's,lol.

Cool, I'd never get my wife to run our SS on the track - she won't rev it over 4000 rpm because it feels too fast :)

Is yours a 5-speed? The 95 mph trap speed seems a little low, but I haven't seen many stock HHR SS timeslips, and like you said, you're still learning and should be quicker next time. The Cobalt SS guys seem to be running 103-104 mph traps stock - I know the HHR is a little heavier, but I was still hoping we'd run close to 100 mph.

Next time, try the no-lift shift and you might shave off a tenth or two!

I think those are good odds, given his screen name.

Yes it is a 5 speed, and her last 2 passes were a no lift shift. Where it is a dog is off the line, that is where we are spinning at. Our track is notorious for everyone running slower than at other tracks, not really sure why, but it has been like that for as long as that track has been open.

D'oh! Reading comprehension for the win!

And the launch is definitely a weak point for the HHR. Especially on the street, I find it really hard to hook up using full throttle at any point in 1st gear. I've been beaten off the line by pickup trucks, but I blow past them pretty quick.
