Just installed it. I love it!

The shifts are much closer and tighter. The reverse lock out looks more solid because the piece is aluminum. The factory plastic one was chewed up when I took it out.

My only gripe right now is 5th is slightly a pain to get into because when I try to move the shifter all the way to the right and up, it moves it right to where reverse would be, so I have to gently move it right just a tad before putting it up.

Otherwise, its a great upgrade!

You can fool with the lateral adjustment to dial in 5th engagement a bit better. That is the clip to the left side cable. Just make sure reverse and first still engage fine.

Question?
Does this mod get rid of the notchy shifting? My Honda is buttery smooth, my HHR SS shifts like a truck. No rowing straight through the gears.

P.S> what's in your cigarette lighter?

My opinion: Compared to a Honda S2000 (never driven a Civic) it is still "notchy". The TWM is much more solid and direct feeling when combined with the solid shifter assembly mounts and less "spongy" than stock). For the SS it shortens the throw about an inch measured at the top of the knob. A shifter can only do so much, but it is a big improvement in my opinion. In the lighter socket? - A transverse force-field generator, ........actually just a LED flashlight.

So what size thread is the shift knob? I'd like a new one that's leather or something not so cold.

And anyone have a recommendation for a new shift boot? Preferably black leather or suede with red stitching.

I tried to put the pedal to the metal and pass someone today only to grind 3rd. MAN was I pissed. Every car I've owned for the past 17 years has been a stick and this one is the least fun to row through the gears. I've driven trucks that are smoother. Will this break in (I've 3400 miles on her) or will this shift kit fix the problem.

If you get a chance test drive a 08 Civic and let me know what you think...

Mine goes 1st through 4th just fine...5th is another story. I have to go at it twice most of the time to get it into 5th.

Mines notchy but no problems with the gating into any of the gears.

I don't know how big the thread is but I changed mine to a Leather MOMO I ordered off of Ebay. The MOMO is a universal fit that has 3 allen screws at the bottom to lock it in place. I love the one which came with my TWM but man is it cold now that the weather has changed. The MOMO is pretty awesome also. They have many styles.
