I have an 08 SS with the automatic trans.I work in Manhattan and that shift deal gets old after you turn 45.
Im 6'1 and have no trouble with my hair hitting the roof.If my wife has been driving the HHR and has the seat up,then it hits till i wind it down.I have the preformance seat and its power.
To the guy who complained that the seat was useless for competitive driving,I believe he is dead wrong.Comparing it to a race car seat, its made to be comfortable and help hold you still, not turn 4 g's on a track. If it were made for racing,it would have a pad rather than padding, and a 5 point harness. In comparson to other cars out there, the seat does what it is designed to do.
I also have an 06 Impala SS with power/heated leather seats. Those damn things are like sliding boards compared to the HHR SS seat.
I drive the car around 160 miles a day at least three times a week in my commute.I make my 80 mile 1 way commute in 1 hour 10 minutes with toll booths(EZ-Pass) with evening traffic. The car dosent miss a beat and has suprised damn near anything I have came up on in my travels.
It dosent matter where you are or what the circumstances, the car is ready to go.Hit the gas and its gone.My only compalint is my inability to comfortably keep it below 80 mph without the cruise control on.At 85 it feels like your doing 50.
Ive owned quick cars all my life, and have never seen one bring a smile like this one does.

that would be GTO to HHR that made that statement, and he made that statement referring not to driving competitively on the street, but at autocross events. he has posted several videos now of him at a few auto-x events, and when you're sawing back and forth at quickly varying speeds, the seat just won't hold you like a so-called "performance seat" would be expected to. IMO if they want to give us a "performance seat" it should be more along the lines of the Recaro's that could be had in the old Cobalt SS. now those bad boys hold you nice and tight. also, i feel a "performance seat" option should not be a power adjustable seat, as the extra weight doesn't exactly help performance any. if you're choosing an option based on the idea that it will help performance, you're obviously not interested in it being the most convenient option you've ordered.

I agree, The performance seat is more for spirited street driving they aren't selling the SS as a race ready car. I agree with Sandhog for 99% of the people that will buy it the seat is more than adequate. Its not like some of the old neons and others that you could get lightly optioned and advertised as ready to go racing and autocrossing.

Yes, ours has the roof rails and I will have to bring this up to my DH, but I'm pretty sure I know what his answer will be on this one, no way in H%*L. But we shall see. He saw how it was when we went to Kings Island just for a night, I can only imagine what it's going to be like going to Disney for a week. If he doesn't go for it, looks like I will have to be investing in some space bags to try and fit everything in one suitcase instead of several. LOL!!

Really big space saving tip about the stroller.........

Just spend about 5 bucks for a temp stroller when you arrive at Disney.

Instead of taking our stroller I was planning on just renting a stroller while there. That was until they raised their stroller rentals to an outragous price. I figured it up and if I remember right the total for renting a stroller would be around $250 or higher.

Sorry guys! Didn't mean to get off topic. =(

I don't like that the OEM rack doesn't have bicycle or ski attachments. In fact, I can't find a bike rack for this car. The hidden hitch doesn't look like it will work b/c of the ground effects on the SS. If someone knows better, please let me know. It sucks to have to put my bike inside my car b/c then there is no room for my German Shepherd.

<--- other than that, love, love, love this car!!!

the only thing i dont like is the (what i think) outragous noise from the injectors or whatever, the ticking i can hear it about 10-15 feet away from my car and the wind noise at higher speeds from the CLOSED sunroof, checked it today, no water leaks though
