Old Chevy Man...you're lucky you got out of Dayton when you could! Granted I wasn't born until years after you moved...places all over are closing out. Cooper Tires will be gone in 09, Delphi is closing in June, Moraine GM plant is going to the crapper, etc.

But I agree...you got the shaft on your lease on your Crossfire! I know est residual value is something taken into consideration with leasing and since it was a Chrysler, it explains a lot!

I just got rid of my Grand Prix lease and got a 08 VUE RL and had $1500 negative equity (did it as a trade in and not lease pull ahead) from my grand prix. I put $1500 towards taxes, title, fees, first month and whatever else remaining just as a down payment...leasiing this $29,700 VUE RL for $435.

My wife's G6 GT Convertible was $29k, she put $2k up front for stuff and she pays $420. Of course her car will be the one going in exchange for the HHR SS since she drives the VUE all the time.

Dealer today told me $499 with nothing but first month up front...but that was also before they factored in the loyalty cash and other things. They do an only price on ALL their cars...even Z06s. So this $25,600 HHR SS (loaded) was an "Only Price" of $23,400!!!!

Oh and not only does this dealership do Only Pricing...they didn't give two sh*ts about test driving it. They got it yesterday, cleaned it up this morning...I pulled in a little before they were going to put it in the showroom, so after it was all cleaned up I got to drive it. Thing handles amazing and I love the power! I'm going to hold out to see if they release the Brembo Brake package in a few months.

Somebody in one of the other posts asked me about the manual. I cant find that post, so I'm going to comment here.

To me, the stick is ok. After more experience, it feels slightly rough around the edges. Its definately not butter smooth. The worst is 5th gear. It always feels like its clunking into gear through some sort of grind. Not a grind from the transmission gears though, it has something to do with the linkage in feel. I'm going to drive my friends honda civic today so I can have something modern to compare it to. The last stick I drove was an older saturn.

I'd almost advise against that... You'll wind up hating on your new car. I think Honda's manuals are the best in the car world. They are buttery smooth. I've heard they use teflon and it feels like it. I had an Integra a few years back bought it new and I marveled at how nice it shifted. Never notchy, always smooooooth.

My Z28's 6 speed on the other hand always feels a bit notchy. The shift into 2nd can be a bit of a grind once in a while. I had to have it rebuilt at only 41K too, which really fried my a$$. "Slightly rough around the edges" as you describe yours, says it perfectly.

Bottom line, GM does not build the transmissions that Honda makes, no one does, although some of the other Japanese car companies come closer than GM, Ford and Chrysler. So go ahead and drive that Civic... you'll see.
jmho.
