When i start the car it almost sounds like the BOV is kicking in. I let it idle and it will do this for a couple minutes and just wondered if anybody else is having that or maybe your not like me and stare at your car while its warming up!!!

 

The SS isn't a pretty car to listen to at startup....especially when it's cold out I'm on my second and they both made some pretty ugly sounds at cold start. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "like the BOV is kicking in" since the bypass is pretty silent on my SS but in general my 2 SS's have been noisy until warmed up. Now if you have the traditional BOV whooosh while warming up....that might warrant looking into. Shouldn't be hearing anything like that

 

Have you had the brake fix installed? If so, it might be the vacuum pump for that fix.

 

These engines sound like diesels on colde starts. I almost didn't buy one, until I looked at the 3rd or fourth one. All SS models do it.

 

what is the sound coming from. i also have the hear the same sound . the dealer did not know of any sound at cold start.almost sound like the sound coming from near the turbo. by the time you start looking for it ,it gone.

 

Yes it sounds like its near the turbo. I wil try to hear it better and or take a video so you guys can diagnose it but it will be a couple days cuz its friggin cold in chitown right now!!

 

does it sound like an odd ticking sound? oil squirters make a distinct noise.

 

mine is loud for a minute or two until the vacuum builds then quiets down, watch your boost gauge

 

If you have anything but the stock air intake, mainly an open element type it will sound like a Hoover vacuum cleaner on start up...as all have said, Dis be one noisy B!
