Worth it to buy an SS?

Hello everyone! I've been the owner of a 2009 HHR LT for the past couple years and love it. Unfortunatly, it's starting to have some issues that I can't fix myself. I've already put a decent amount of money into it, and rather than keep doing that I want to buy my next car.
I was looking online when I saw a 2010 HHR SS that was just listed in my city. Since buying my regular HHR I've become aware of the SS's existance and have always thought to myself that I'd like one someday. This one has about 97,000 miles, and the dealership wants $12,400. This seems like a decent deal considering the mileage and current car prices, but I'm not entirely sure. The only big concern is that it has been in a moderate accident according to Carfax. It doesn't say exactly what, but it seems like the car may have been rolled at some point given what the report says. I plan to take it to a mechanic before even considering buying it, to get a clear idea of what happened.
I would be using it for my daily driver, and eventually would plan on tricking it out in the future. I mainly just want to see what the people on this forum have to say about it, and whether this deal is worth it. I feel like the SS is becoming kind of rare, and I'd like to grab one before they're gone.
Thanks!

to the forums!

There are SS HHRs in our classifieds. Fewer miles, less money for the first one I saw.

Once upon a time dealerships occasionally offered bargains because they didn’t know what they had. It happens less often now because, you know, the interweb. Better info. But you can lowball them. Maybe they stole it on trade from someone who… didn’t know what they had. But dealers are more likely to budge when their lots are too packed. You don’t see that much these days.

Besides, price fishing is a waste of time because even with a zillion clear pictures and a Carfax report, you can’t feel it or hear it, so the value guesses are wild ones.

I bought mine used at a Ford dealer in 2011. They had no idea what they had. Good luck! Today it's a lot different, and used cars are insanely priced.
