Just wanted to say hello to all, this is my first post here!!

Have been lurking around for about a month to get info on the HHR.

Picked it up previously owned 07 at a great price on 7-21-7, and love it!

Found this thread and did this mod using part numbers from post #338. I also have some issues with wiring harness. Everything works on DIC and cruise side. Lights work at night on both sides, just the radio controls do not control the radio. My HHR in service date was 7-21-06, so I don't know if I am late or early model. Looks like the only difference in wiring harnesses is 2 new wires (one has a blue wire and black wire with white tracer) in between the cruise side and the radio side wires. All other wires appear to be the same. I read where I should swap wires 1 & 4 (counting from the radio side of main harness connection) , but I have no wires in slot #1 and #2. As stated, the blue and black wires are in between cruise side and radio side.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel like only 1 or 2 wires need to be moved to get all working.

Could someone just draw a picture of the new plugs and the wire colors to each slot and the how it should be rewired to work on a 2007.
I think that would be more understandable than that wiring diagram to people that are not electronics minded and cannot read an schematic.

cruise side original, new harness needs to be this way

| | | | | | |

1 2 3 4 5 6 7

1-green, white tracer
2-open
3-gray
4-pink
5-gray,black tracer
6-open
7-black,white tracer

this is looking at plug from side that has 7 holes in it

new harness will come wired this way (at least both of mine did)

1-open
2-open
3-black, white tracer
4-pink
5-gray
6-gray, black tracer
7-green, white tracer

Radio side will come this way

1-blue, white tracer
2-white, black tracer
3-gray
4-black,white tracer

needs to be this way

1-black, white tracer
2-white,black tracer
3-gray
4-blue, white tracer

Again, looking at all plugs from the side with holes

Thanks for the welcome HillsdaleHHR,

I got it working YAY!!

I only had to swap the blue and black/white wire on the radio connection. Cruise was fine as is.

For some reason I thought all along everyone was talking about the main connection that all wires went into. Now it all makes sense.

Thanks everybody!!!!

Got my Switch cover and harness today... Going out in a few minutes to install them. I haven't opened the box yet, so I hope I got the right color cover....

EDIT... I just got finished and It WORKS.... all I needed to change were the two on the radio side, the cruise side was correct.
this is on a 2007 built in October 2006.

An inquiring mind wants to know, before he pulls his steering wheel cover off tomorrow, was the Cruise side of the harness you received wired as ellis ewe had indicated his (2) had come? If so my Nov. 2006 production '07 HHR LS should be a snap.

And to all the folks who put this thread together, with all the great information and helpful hints, I say THANK YOU!!

My HHR came to me used, and when I saw this inexpensive mod, well needless to say I was all over it.

I will try to post some pics of the completed job later. Everybody wish me luck.

Thanks again!!

Kevin

Yes it was wired as he said, but I didn't need to move any of those wires, I compared it to the plug already on the cruise and they were wired the same. as was the main plug. I just swapped the 1 and 4 wires on the radio side and everything worked as planned.....
Welcome and I hope you enjoy your HHR as much as I have mine.
