ok so I just added the radio controls but now there is gap on that side between the controls and the airbag. Any one else have this issue and if so how did you fix it?

Me too...

A low tech solution for me was to partially insert the horn / airbag pins into the holes and yank the unit to the right a few times ....gently...as I reinstalled same.

I just picked up my 08 LT Panel yesterday .........it did not come with 2 options that i wanted running boards (ordered) and steering wheel radio controls (not ordered yet) ....the dealership is telling me that it can't be done so i gave them this thread to look at and now they are telling me that i need to buy a NEW steering wheel for $250.00.....IS THIS TRUE? and if so can i get a steering wheel any cheaper?

The dealership said that on the 06 and 07 you can add the controls but on the 08 a new steering wheel is the answer.

Thanks for any help.

Check with member Cajun...he has an 08 and did this mod. Sounds to me like the dealer is blowing smoke up your skirt and trying to sell you a new steering wheel.

I have an 08 with the raised buttons. Can someone tell me what part #'s I need for the harness, silver cover and raised buttons? There's so many part #'s scattered around this thread I'm confused on which ones to order.

Here is a contact at www.parts.com

This guy helped me to order the 3 parts I needed.

Raised Button Switch
Switch Cover (tell him what color....Charcoal or Silver)
Wiring Harness (you will need to swap wires for it to work in a 2008)

Basically, you want to order the parts for a 2007, and swap the positions
of the wires on the harness to accomodate the cruise and radio controls.

Swap the cruise wires to match the colors currently on your 08....and swap
wires 1 and 4 on the radio button side. (the 2 outside wires)

I used a dental pick to slide the wires out of the connector.

I have an 07 dob is 9/15/06 and it has the smooth buttons with the silver plate. I guess they used the raised buttons later in the 07 build year.
