A big thanks to the originator of this thread and to all who contributed. I just did this today on a 2009 LS with the recommended parts and everything works fine.

Install on 2011 LS

Just got done install the controls on my wifes 2011 HHR LS. Ended up doing a search on local used car lots web sites and got the last 8 digits of the vin of a LT model with the radio controls with the right color bezels. Gave dealer the vin and 3 days later they arrived. The part numbers are:

Cover in lite silver PN# 25812467
Harness PN# 25816515
Switch PN# 25862239

All went well and it works great. Hardest part was getting the airbag out. Now I get to see how long it will take till my wife notices they are there.

Just finished ours...

Just installed this into my son's '06 (Hanukkah present). Thanks to this thread, it took less than 30 minutes. Left the old cable harness in place, as I didn't see it interfering with anything. Biggest hassle was putting the wheel cover back in place, until we pulled the horn fuse.

I ordered the parts from gmpartsdirect last week and the cover plate is on back order at the moment.
I am looking forward to having the radio/ipod controls on the steering wheel.

I removed the horn/airbag replaced the harness and installed the switches in less than 10 min.
The only tricky part was removing the horn which I did with a 6” allen wrench that you slide through the two holes in the rear cover of the steering wheel.

Easy mod, love the mute button.

Ok, I screwed something up. My horn no longer works.. *sigh*
I think I pulled out the black wires for the horn. Anyone have pic of the wires behind the airbag that show the wiring for the horn?
