This pictorial and walkthrough helped me swap out a failed horn myself. The original owner (I bought my HHR in '08 w/ 6000 miles on it) had put in a Wolo "Bad Boy"...I guess it didn't weather that well...it started to fade last year and finally quit. I think maybe the elements come into the horn compartment via the spaces in the fog light caps (I don't have the actual fog lights). The local chevy dealer mentioned something about the previous mod (taking out the relay etc.) and wanted like $385 to fix it. I passed and figured it was a good candidate for a DIY. I wanted to get 'er done today so I picked up a Wolo "Loud One" at the local Autozone and had it done in about 1.5 hrs Def helps to jack it up and take the wheel off...much better view and maneuverability imo. Thanks OP!

P.S. As far as the sound, well, for a single (low tone) unit, the "Loud One" is adequate for my needd...I'm sure it would sound better paired with the hi but as long as it passes inspection I think I'll be fine.

 

I'm sure it sounds like a Real Horn now, not like that oem anemic excuse it had. I was embarassed to hit the horn button till I did my horn mod..
