Installing Interior Dome/Mirror Light Switch
When initially post assumed this mod may not be in the interest of all members.
Rational for offering this mod -
1) Some members had issue with not being able to turn off the interior lights at will
2) Liftgate or doors open for prolonged intervals
3) Not wanting to remove and replace the fuse on a continual basis
4) No dome / interior light override switch offered in 06, 07, 09, 10
5) Interior lights stay on for 20 minutes not 5 minutes as some other GM vehicles
6) Removal of fuse cover panel is not the easiest to reinstall
7) Location of switch is installers option for appearance
8) Panel can be replaced inexpensively if a mistake is made
9) Cost of materials about $10
10) Mistakes can be reduced by purchasing a manufactured fuse/switch harness

This is a good mod. How GM missed this is beyond me - GM should never take anything as functionally simple as this away from a vehicle.
Another closely related problem is the dimming control for the interior lighting is not "lighted" making it hard to find in the dark.

This is going to be the next modification I do.
I definitely see the need especially when cleaning the windows and running the shop vac with all the doors open. I tailgate also so the rear hatch will stay open with the radio on. I am going to upgrade to a larger battery so it won't run down as fast (hopefully).
My big question is:
Couldn't you go "past" the fuse and splice in the switch instead of rigging a cut fuse or instead of the RV switch? I like my fuses in the fuse block and I want to run my switch to a different location so the passenger won't kick it off accidentally.
Would an '08 dimmer switch work to turn off the lights as-needed in my '09 or does the BCM I have limit this ability?
That would be the best and cleanest/neatest way to go IMO.
