I only went to one dealer out of 10 or so across the valley here and they had 10 in stock and only wanted $104. The best NEW price on ebay that I could find was $87 and I would of had to wait for it to arrive.

Just an FYI for the part numbers of the NEW version of this motor there are 4 different part numbers as per the 2 recall TSB's. I have printouts from both and have listed all 4 in the quote below. All 4 will work with our cars.

19257876 and 19257875

The recall says either or of the above for the new part number. Also this one is for the Canadian ION's (03 to 07) as well.

For the Cobalts, G5's, Pursuit (no mention of Malibus, thought I saw them mentioned somewhere before) they list 4 part number options for the new replacement part(s) :

20995579 and 19257136 both said to have the cone shaped oil slinger on them and to not damage this part

the other two numbers are the same as the two listed for the Canadian recalls listed above.

Red face Changed out motor yesterday

I also had intermittent failure of the power steering. The posted photos and instructions were very clear and led me to do the repair. The replacement of the power steering motor was straight foreward. I got the motor from my local chevy dealer. It cost $111.11. When I got home I noticed it was a rebuilt unit. They did not ask for my old core.

Thanks for the photos and links for this repair. It saved me money and was welcomed by one who is retired.

Wow everyone got such good prices on their new motors; I think mine was something like $180 from the dealer's part department! That's for my Cobalt, anyway. Did the repair about six months before the recall was issued. Easy repair.

Thumbs up Successful Repair of Power Steering Many thanks to Everyone

My power steering started flaking out and thanks to the great posts from Stryker and others on this site I was able to identify the issue. Track down the power assist steering motor on-line and repair the problem for less than $120.00. Swapping out the motor took a smidge over an hour.

2007 LT - 135,556 Miles, 2.4L, 5-speed manual. purchased Jan-07

I will hold on to the old motor and receipt in the event Chevy does get their head out of a certain orifice and issue a recall.

My 2007 HHR had it's power steering motor replaced under recall without me even knowing there was a problem. My husband's Pontiac Pursuit, Canada only, was acting up bad and the dealer replaced that motor too under recall. Nice surprise.

I Have the same problem and going into the dealer tomorrow morning at 8AM
i have no idea what there going to charge me ,,but its a 2010 i should not be going through this with a 2 year old car,,every one needs to file a complaint with the national highway safety ass. like max69 said ( I DID ) if we ever want to see some of our money back
and maybe save a life,,,i wouldn't want to drive it like that in a snow storm
