I found this video explaining the different kits available for our Ecotec’s
Get some popcorn and a cold one, find some shade and check this out.

We have had snow storms again, food poisoning, etc. It's beginning to really suck to be me.
It isn't looking good for my car. It's very possible the engine is toast...found metal shavings. Shavings are on the VVT solenoids.
Can't afford a new car...can't afford a new engine.
I have been trying to get a new job that's back to my career field. It's beginning to feel like age discrimination.
Happy Spring y'all

Holy cow! He says to activate the timing tensioner BEFORE installation!? He also gives completely different instructions for installing it than what was provided in my Cloyes kit.
But he also said there has been three changes to the design of that tensioner. That would be four designs, and I’m only aware or three.
The last one I’m aware of can’t be activated before installation as it won’t back down and would result in seriously over-tensioning the chain. This is consistent with the instruction provided with the Cloyes kit I used.
Is there a new design?

No , only 3 designs. I googled the company and they sell mostly on EBay , but the parts kits are expensive, I will stick with Cloyes as I have for 55 years. Great products and still made in the USA!

I’ve located this upgraded kit from ZZP, note the front guide upper replacement bolt and their new style front guide!

I’m sure it won’t be long until they are back in stock
