New to the forum from Va.
That and Manheim up in Pennsylvania, I went to that with a dealer friend about ten years ago, you just wouldn't believe the number of vehicles that go under the hammer in 15 minutes.
It "Minds your Boggle", and unscrupulous folks love to "wash titles" at auctions, Flood Damaged on an "R" Branded Title in State A, becomes a One Owner Creampuff in State B.
I'd run a CarFax on that AA5, but CarFax isn't perfect, just a way of spotting potential duds.

Welcome to the site :)
Just picked up my HHR & I keep falling more & more in love with it! Handles great & awesome gas mileage.
Hope you are able to find what you are looking for. I love the idea you have on what to do with it!

I've been steadily looking for a couple weeks and I've found some good deals. I've only seen three I really like. But there is a massive amount of competition for sellers, that is good bargaining strategy.
The gray AA5 that I'm really interested in, I beleive is too
expensive although the seller says he will discount for the issues it has (all cosmetic ) I still think he'll want more than I want to pay. I need to be into the car for around 2k to make it work for me and I don't think thats unfair but he's a dealer and usually their price is crazy.
I hope I'm not out of my league but it needs a back door on the driverside I've been comparing prices... around $500 for a used door. Also the passenger side back fender will need a repaint. Quality paint work isn't cheap. I was thinking about repainting the fenders a nice shade of burgundy/maroon. Wheels and tires need replaced. and thats just what I can tell by the pics.
Anyways,I'm going to look at it on Saturday. I hope I can talk him out of it. Fingers crossed

I wanted to update everyone on my search for an HHR. I made the two hour trip up to see the car today and boy what a disappointment. The car was so misrepresented and in such poor condition. I don't know if l was more sad for the car or for my wasted day. How could someone let a car get in that kind of condition, especially a special interest car such as an HHR?
Very disheartening... that said, my search for an HHR continues. Here are some pictures of why I had to separate my emotions from the reality. If you're wondering how bad it really was... the listed price was $3,900 and before I walked off his lot he was ready to sell it to me for $1,000. That really threads the needle for you.
The Check engine light was on and the engine was knocking. The back interior panels looked as if someone was hauling firewood. Missing, Busted, dented, and scratched and all needed replaced. The engine bay looked like the hood hadn't been raised for 100000 miles. I had to walk away, sometimes you just know when to quit.

Welcome to the site! Don't let that one discourage you, there's plenty more to choose from! If that was a panel I'd drive down and snatch it for a grand. I need one for the collection! Good luck and happy hunting.
