New guy from Arkansas
Hello to all. I especially want to thank everyone who posted about the problems with their car overheating. Our 2008 was heating to over 205 F. So I parked it and waited until we got some warmer weather to work on it. You guys were a real blessing to me. Your information kept my motor from overheating and damaged in the long run. So thank you all.

aboard!
Glad you found the site helpful!
Could you elaborate more on the issue you were having, 205 degrees is not uncommon to see on an HHR especially in bumper to bumper traffic where there isn't enough "Ram Air" coming in due to low speeds.
HHR's are naturally a tad hot blooded as it is, 187-202 is fairly average for operating temps depending on road speed and ambient air temperature. Plus the fans will kick on automatically at 217 degrees, and they can bring the engine down to 185-187 degrees in very short order.

Welcome to the forum from The Volunteer State! Glad to hear we could help you fix the issue you were having with your HHR, but as the others have said seeing 205 degrees wouldn't be considered overheating on these cars.
