gotcha. thanks for the info guys. i'll have to read up then on how challenging it is to replace the timing chain and balance guides if I'm gonna get one with over 100k miles or if I'm lucky find someone who already did it (with receipts) and selling it under 4k.

Precisely, the chains and guides aren’t a hard job.

yep I ran across that thread and will watch it once I get off work but thre doesn't seem to be a thread dedicated on a how-to? there's nothing coming up under maintenance, the 'how to', HHR SS, and currently searching under the problems/service/repairs but still coming up empty.

When using the Search Function on this site, do not use the "Threads" default selection. Click the Google Search for much better results.

thanks for the info. I generally go in each section such as the problems/service/repair and click on the drop-down option called "search this forum" and put in either 'timing', 'chain', or 'timing chain' and sift through each page for a catchy thread post name lol. i'll try your method in a bit.

so I watched the cloyes video and it was really helpful. i wonder if ARP makes reusable bolts so not to keep buying the TTY? also looks like it doesn't include the process when changing the waterpump but i imagine ppl would drain the coolant from the system, then proceed in the process of getting to the valve cover and front cover to swap out the pieces, including the waterpump?
