Ok but when I'm looking to purchase some it say 5x100/5x114.3 what's that about??

What that means is that the rims are drilled for two bolt hole patterns, one set of holes drilled for 5 x 110, and one set drilled for 5 x 114.3

This means that the rims will have ten holes drilled for the studs, if you're vehicle has a 5 x 110 pattern they'll fit, but they'll also work on a vehicle with a 5 x 114.3 pattern....think of them as "compromise" wheels.

You cannot use any bolt pattern on the HHR except for a 5 x 110, unless you are prepared to go with adapter/spacers and their attendant issues/compromises/hassles.
