Not an HHR but I have an ecotec! E85 question.
Not an HHR but I have an ecotec! E85 question.
Hey guys! I have been a member of this forum for a while and would like to introduce myself.
I am the owner of an 06 Saturn ION Redline. Here are some pics.

I have ton of mods (check sig) and recently converted to E85. The results were pretty impressive.
Blue - Premium Fuel
Red/Green - E85

I was able to pick up 36whp and 32wtq just but switching fuel and tuning in more timing. E85 is like race gas with meth injection for less then $2/g!
Have any HHRs converted to E85? I know the LNF guys would not be able to. But are their any 2.2 or 2.4 people running it?

The Saturn ION Redline is a secret and a true sleeper. Many do not realize that this beast is a clone of the Supercharged LSJ inspired Cobalt SS.
My son was looking for one before he bought his Cobalt. Availability is the only reason for his choice, but it could easily have gone to the ION Redline.
Absolutely a nice ride.

not to sway a member away from this site, but cobaltss.net is a partner website of hhr.net and a lot of people are members on both. There is a few threads over there that have a lot of info on e85 conversion. might be worth a look.

I just wanted to see if any LE5 guys have tried it with a boosted engine. I honestly think the LE5 is the best short block ecotec available. The LSJ/LNF have an advantage as a complete engine because they come boosted. But the LE5 is a awesome engine. I would love to see one pushed to limit.
There is no replacement for displacement.

On a side note, a new version of the LE5 is coming out with increased compression and direct injection; its RPO engine code is LAF. Its debut is in the 2010 Equinox (and its Theta-platform brethren, the GMC Terrain) and 2010 LaCrosse. What does 2,000 more psi at the rails and a bump from 10.4:1 compression to 11.4:1 compression get you in horsepower? A whopping seven more horsepower than our cars
I have an LE5 now in my '07 HHR which I just procured as I sold my '08 Sky Redline (w/ manual trans & GMPP tune
) which you know has an LNF. Both the LE5 and the LNF are the Gen II Ecotec blocks w/ dual cam-phasing, oil squirters underneath the pistons, etc. Not only does the LNF have boost mind you, but it's also direct-injected. As a "short block," they're really the same less the 4/10th liter displacement.

With such a marginal increase, the engine code seems wildly appropriate — it really is a LAF

But ZZP has found a way to raise the FP in the DI fuel system. So they are getting a little more fuel.
