Yes Rainier, from the south. When St Helens went off, I was sleeping off a hang over on my water bed, with no baffles, our house was in a low area ,on a slab. It rocked the house so much I was tossed out of the bed. Fort Lewis was always firing stuff off out there playing war games. My first thought was, what the hell are they shooting off out there now NUKES. Come to find out it was a blast 10 times the size of Hiroshima. We went to a baseball game bbq in the afternoon and witnessed the second blast, totally beyond normal imagination. It shot up what must be miles instantly. It was a once in a couple lifetimes experience, I hope. Rainier is much closer and just dormant for the last 1100 years.
I thought it was Ranier, but it sure doesn't have much snow on it. I've seen much more snow on it in previous summers. That's what threw me. Have they opened the campground just inside the south entrance yet?
