No need to keep trying to pull a race card all you will do is get the thread locked.

everyone was proud when McGuire was shooting for records, no one questioned his size issue, in fact they constantly wrote how dillegent he was to go from a pipsqueek to a monster in 2-3 seasons, but he was not bothered or plagued by suspicion. the media adored him, they laid out the red carpet, and when he was going for the record he did not recieve death threats....but a black or latino player goes for the gold, we are public enemy number one.

i am not making this a race thread...it simply is the truth. leave the man alone, let him break the record, and DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA so much, they love creating and demolishing peoples careers based on their mood and ratings.

if it makes a difference...tim duncan/david robinson are great examples of players who go above and beyond the status quo

I'm a huge lifelong St Louis Cards fan, and I was very excited for McGuire when he broke the record. The problem I have with Bonds is he's a complete jerk. He's a jerk to the media, and to the fans. He acts like he is bigger than the game, and that I can't stand. Personally I don't give a rip about steroids. Fans want to see 500 foot home runs. That's what they pay to see. It's a bit hypocritical for fans to bash those players for hitting homers. I' m a bit different than your typical fan, in that I root for players who respect the game, and the fans. Players like Scott Rolen, Albert Pujols, David Eckstein, and many others. Just my

if someone was spreading rumors about you...um lets see maybe 1-2 million ppl and the media hounded you and your family....the feds are following you everywhere and sorting through your entire life...all the while recieving death threats for the last few years from "fans" what do you expect a man to do in an interview. he may be superhuman in the HR department, but he is human and as an adult you should know that the Media only shows what they want. i have met the guy in person 3 years ago and was more cordial than when i met Nolan Ryan

My opinion of Bonds was not formed from recent events. He has been a jerk from day one. He was nice to you, that's great. My experiences have been much different.

quest......

You have mentioned death threats 3-4 times regarding Bonds. And, you emphasized it. I fail to see the connection to him tieing or beating a record.

I also find the following comment very interesting.....

i am not making this a race thread...it simply is the truth. leave the man alone, let him break the record, and DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA so much, they love creating and demolishing peoples careers based on their mood and ratings.

I bet when the media talks about certain other people, you absolutely believe it.....but of course, they are telling the truth then Selective beliefs is wonderful.

i typically do not pay attention to the media. in fact i do research.
for instance i saw "Pursuit of Happyness" last night great movie, but by mid day today i had researched the character and found faults in the movie storyline. still a feelgood movie, but definitely not completely true. like the fact that Chris Gardner was a cocaine user etc...

research is the only key to seeking the truth. growing up the way i did, i do not take many strangers/media words for truth unless there is adequate proof to do so. its a fundamental of philosophy...go look it up...but then again someone using "selective beliefs" in a sentence should know better.

another movie for instance is erin brockovich, they paint her up as an uneducated single mother. she was educated and worked for another lawyer prior. still a great movie, but not completely true.

i also work for many celebs and there is a legendary player named the ice man. he is a "great humanitarian" for the NBA and the local media, but the guy is always stoned when i deal with him.

then there is politics...once again researching voting records and picking up a history book will help you discover the truth.

i never hide that i am a spurs fan, but i dislike tony parker off the court for various reasons.
i can go on and on and list exapmles of why i do not possess "selective beliefs", but rather beliefs based on facts.
