Question Buying New Car Advise

Need some advise on buying a new car. No not a new HHr for me, still waiting on that.
The wife wants to get a new Equinox. We will pay cash on it.
So what is the best way to get the best deal? We will be tradeing in her mini van paid off guessing they will give around 5k for it since it books around 8k.
We hope to get this done before next week with the 3k promo Chevy has right now.
Any advise on getting the best deal?

The best advise I could give would be not to do the trade-in. The dealer almost always rakes you over the coles with what they will give you. It may take longer to sell the van through someplace like cars.com, but if it brings you 2-3K it would be worth it in the long run.

I'm not up on Chevy's current incentives, but you say they have a $3,000 rebate on the Equinox right now. I'd offer to pay sticker (minus the rebate) if they gave the full $8,000 trade.

D- Check around a few online sources. When I bought the HHR our sales guy was complaining about people finding prices online, talking to a sales manager, and then getting the car/truck/whatever for BELOW GMAC pricing. I got mine with GMAC since my dad is a Raytheon employee. Only thing I can think of is to play other makes/models against the 'Nox. Look at pricing for Xterra, Rav4, Escape, and other like modeled vehicles even though you may want the Nox. Don't let them know that. You can find others online with Nox's and see what they paid and how to get better deals too! Try and get the invoice price, employee price and see what dealer would work best with you. There have got to be quite a few Chevy dealers in Phx, there are 2 here in Tucson too. Try the internet and making calls. Save some gas and keep inside where its still cool!

One thing I forgot is that if all else fails wife can get discount thru her work so we have that in are back pocket. I already plan on doing like I did with the HHr email the internet manger and take that price with me also.

How much did you get off the sticker with the internet price?

DOn't even bring up the work discount until you are at the end of negotiations - then bring it up. They'll still give it to you.

We have not check on the new car yet, but on the HHR I saved about 1200 from what they wanted to sell it to me, compared to what the internet manger told me. Of course the sales man was not real happy but he still was very nice and helpfull, cause he was getting paid anyway once the deal was done
