You know folks...it's a crying shame what happened to that car, Henry is just beside himself. As you can see, for an 84 that car was in tip top shape...nothing wrong with it and it looked great until the wreck.

Talked to my insurance people this morning, just to let them know what was up. Just removed comp & collision earlier this month and lowered comp deductible on the HHR. Figured after all these years with no accidents, we should be good to go. Well...wo is me now. Insurance guy said not to worry, the last car is responsible for the whole shooting match. Said to be careful because some company will lowball what they give you and I told him I had 10+ years experience in the business and nobody was going to be messing with me and he laughed.

So now we play the waiting game...he said it's common practice now to have to wait up to 72 hours for police reports, but you can bet I'll be calling every day until I get the info in hand. We're going to drive it to a body shop today and see what they say and possibly get an estimate. It only blue books for around $1000 so we'll just have to go from there.

As I said before, I'll keep you posted on what's going on. Thanks for all the well wishes for Henry. He did say his right shoulder is bothering him now a bit, so we may need to look into that.

Hey Deb....

Didn't you say, about 2 weeks ago, that you had a buyer for it. They were going to pay $1800.

Sorry for all the hassles this will bring, but glad all are ok!

As with my recent accident, find the bright side to it:

* it wasn't your HHR that was totalled
* he can now get an HHR (I suggest black! )

Again, glad everyone is ok and it's all covered. Now, sharpen your fangs for some Insurance Adjustor Soufle!

Hey Snoopy...I think I'll have to see if I can locate that person who wanted to buy it.

Krejaton...yes, there is a bright side to this...it was NOT my HHR. Would love to get him one too, but unfortunately, that's not in the cards. He'd like to have one, but can't afford it now. He did say if he bought one, it would most likely be the Spring Edition Victory Red...he really likes that.

Fangs are being sharpened as we speak. I'll chew them up and spit them out and chew again. Trust me, they aren't gonna get anything past me. You guys know I can be pretty hard nosed...and I'm certainly not gonna lay down on this deal. Souffle...gee, I've never had that.

That really sucks that it happened. It would be impossible to replace that at the book value.

I always keep Comp and Collision on any of my cars reguardless of age. You just never know. And I love the $100 deductable. For a few dollars for, it's a good piece of mind. Expecially now with my recent theft.

Well...today we got a few things done. Took it to the shop that does the mechanical repairs and got it up on the hoist. Man...what a mess under there. Took a bunch more pictures of damage and posted them in photobucket and a few below.

Went by a body shop and the guy said it would cost at least $6000 to fix it, so it would most likely be an insurance total. No kidding fella...

Called the Police Dept and they said report was ready, so we picked that up, of course we had to pay $5.00 for that pleasure. All vehicles are insured, lady responsible for it is 23 years old and is insured with American Family, so that's all good. Her vehicle and the one in front of her that she hit and pushed into Henry is her sister...what's up with that? Anyway, I called American Family to file a claim and the silly broad hasn't even called them to turn in a claim. They had to tow her car and her sisters, as they weren't driveable...and are new enough they are probably financed. Her car is a 2004 Mazda 6 and her sisters is a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse...and I guess they were pretty smashed up too.

Anyway, claim is in the works and I should hear from them in a few days. Thanks again for all your support.

Update on car...talked to insurance adjuster today...they will send someone out to see the car Monday or Tuesday of next week. Sent my photos to the insurance adjuster and told him what to expect. He said he understood where I was coming from and knows how the Honda retains it's value, as he had one himself. We shall see what he does or whether I need to eat him for lunch.

I am now passed the stuff happens stage...and into my wring the nitwit who caused this stage. I know they are going to total this car and try and screw me in the process. I had a perfect 22 year old car that ran and looked like a champ. Now I have a pile of junk that runs like a champ and looks like a pile of crap.

We've been looking at cars like this the past couple days and the average price to replace what I had is about $2500 and you know the insurance company isn't going to cough up that kind of money.

It just irritates the crap out of me that she'll go along on her merry way and get her 2004 car fixed, as will her sister who she rear ended and pushed into Henry. Their cars will be whole again and they can go on about their lives and here we sit with what was a great car and it's going to cost us money because she's a moron behind the wheel. How much would you guys be willing to bet that she was talking to her sister in front of her on the cell phone when it happened?

I'm beginning to think that if they don't give me a fair amount for the car that I might pursue legal action against her in small claims court. Why should I not be compensated fully for my loss because of her negligence?

Deb now steps down off her soapbox and walks away shaking her head. Thank you for letting me vent...I feel a little better now.

Update: Outside adjuster was here to look at the car today. As soon as he saw the rear end of the car, he said "That's a total loss, what a shame." He said he could tell by looking at the car that it was "out of square" both in the rear, as well as the front.

On a point system of 100 with that being a perfect car, he rated it at 97, which is a good thing. He did mention that one of the tools they use to determine value is the Old Car Price guide...and Henry has one of those. Looked it up in there and if it's rated at a 3, which is the category most cars fall into, we're looking at a value of around $3,150. At a 4, the value is $1400, so I'm hoping we'll get somewhere in between the two.

Now, more waiting games while this info is sent to inside adjuster. He also said we should be compensated for loss of use at the rate of $15 per day until settlement too. I'll let you guys know more when I do.
