Donations to Japan Disaster Relief

I watched this morning as one Japanese family was able to find their mother's photo albums. And then I wept as another family located their dog wandering around the remains of their home. It's more than you should have to bear, seeing your home in sticks, but it could happen to any of us.

We learned today that my husband's company is matching any donations to a recognized charity at dollar for dollar. I am so happy because it gives any small donation a bigger wallop.

How about your companies - be sure you check before you donate, and get their approval on the charity, if you happen to work for a large corporation that has a program like this.

I am completely at sea as to what the full extent of the problems will be if these reactors really fail. Trying to just deal with the rescue and relief of these people is plenty! It seems that even the experts aren't able to do much more than sit back and watch - and learn...

...something tells me the U.S. won't be putting in any new nuclear power facilities for a long time.

My thoughts are with those poor folks in Japan hit by this disaster. Thanks for posting this.

In the hectic aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit Japan Friday, estimates of the numbers of dead and injured are being revised drastically upwards.

As Japan mounted a massive rescue effort Saturday, authorities said that as many as 80,000 people are missing or unaccounted for, according to the Daily Mirror.

We donated on-line to the Red Cross. Wish I could have taken advantage of that company-matching contribution.
