This is pretty typical from what I have seen, seems OK to me. Maybe "new hires" are not so lucky though?

According to data cited by University of Michigan economist Mark Perry, totaling up health care, pensions, hourly pay, vacations and the rest, average total compensation for a Big Three autoworker is $73.21 an hour.

They will all be back at work soon and with back pay they were not on company property. They were not on a paid lunch your employer can not fire you for having 1-2 beers before you come to work or when your shift is done.If they were on straight 8 with a paid lunch then they would not be able to leave the plant and could be fired for any one of the things they did.

This should have been a police matter they could have given out several charges and they would have been detained. If they were not back in the plant and on the job a 11:30 then they could be fired.I worked for GM for 31 years and it was going on long before I got there.Do you realy think the company does not know that 99 out of 100 guys going out at lunch aren`t drinking and smoking.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAgGGGHHHHHHHHH, Erk! <foam> GAAAAAHHHH!

Who in their right mind can defend going to work around heavy machinery with a buzz?

This is why the Union is a joke, and American cars are held in low esteem.

How bout this Mr 30 years at GM?

Next time you need surgery, go fire up a doob with the doctor.

Next time you put your children on the school bus, down a 40 with the driver.

Next time you need legal assistance, snort a few lines with the lawyer.

If it's OK for autoworkers to do it, then it's surely fine for everyone to do it.

I'm going to stop now while I can still remain civil.
