There are numerious global reasons for the price increase, but frankly I think it will have to go north of $5.00 per gallon before any significant traffic reduction occures. We are over $4.00 per gallon now, and the freeways are just as jammed as they always have been.

Laco and the rest of the California folk......

Do the majority of the drivers still drive 15-25 MPH OVER the posted??

I noticed, when our Governor repelled the use of speed cameras on the freeways, the traffic speed increased accordingly. Now that gas prices are rising, I noticed a little slowdown....maybe 70-75 in posted 65.

Snoopy, I see absouletly no reduction of speed. Average speed on a low traffic freeway still runs about 75 to 80MPH or so. I guess that makes up for the times we creep along at 5 or 10 MPH because of traffic.

In this economy just being late for work can get you fired. Part of whatever passes for American Culture is being in a hurry!

Gas prices are the immediate result of a hundred different forces but I'm afraid inflation is just over the horizon. Everything you buy from food to clothing is going to jump in price in a big way.
